Admissions at Santa Cruz
Santa Cruz Catholic School must comply with all age and immunization requirements of the State of Texas and the Texas Catholic Conference, as well as all the requirements of the Catholic Diocese of Austin.
As a Catholic, non-public school dedicated to academic excellence with a disciplined, value-centered environment, Santa Cruz actively seeks students and families who have demonstrated a positive attitude toward the value of Catholic education.

- Applications are accepted in the spring for the following school year.
- Applications are made through the school office and accompanied by a non-refundable application fee.
- Current students must reapply each year.
- New student applications must contain all required documents before a student is considered for admission.
- Applications and fees are taken for available spaces only.
- Once classes are filled those wishing to be considered for vacancies are placed on a waiting list.
- Applicants must be English speaking.
Admission to Santa Cruz Catholic School is based on the availability of space, the developmental, scholastic, and behavioral qualifications of the applicant. New applicants are required to participate in admissions screenings. Screenings are conducted to place students appropriately within the school’s program.
Age Requirements:
- Junior Kindergarten 4 years of age on or before August 31
- Senior Kindergarten 5 years of age on or before August 31
- 1st Grade 6 years of age on or before September 1
- Other Grade Levels Successful completion of previous grade
Specific criteria for admissions will be the following:
- Kindergarten students must meet current age level of development in areas of language, auditory and visual skills as determined by the screening instrument.
- Grades 1-3 must score in the 60% or 6th Stanine as a minimum on the designated standardized Reading assessments
- Grades 4-8 must score in the 60% or 6th Stanine as a minimum on the designated standardized Reading and Math assessments
Admission is based on the following priorities:
- Currently enrolled students
- Siblings of currently enrolled students
- Priority will then be given to students of registered Santa Cruz parishioners, along with parishioners of neighboring parishes in the Diocese of Austin, whose families give of their time, talent, and treasure.
